Jakarta, 8 July 2026 – B. Braun Indonesia has launched B. Braun Waste Segregation Initiative (B. Braun Pilah Sampah), a program designed to encourage employees to adopt more responsible waste management practices by segregating waste at its source. The initiative was introduced through the Waste to Wonder Series: Talk Show and Workshop, reinforcing the company's efforts to foster greater awareness and employee participation in responsible waste management.
The initiative builds upon Waste to Wonder, an awareness campaign introduced in 2025 to promote greater understanding of waste-related challenges through educational and collaborative activities. Since its inception, the campaign has encouraged waste reduction, upcycling, and recycling practices while partnering with social enterprises and local SMEs to transform discarded materials into value-added products that also contribute to local economic empowerment.
Through the B. Braun Waste Segregation Initiative, the company has introduced a four-category waste segregation system comprising recyclable, organic, residue, and e-waste. As an initial rollout, waste segregation stations have been installed at B. Braun Indonesia's Head Office and Plant to help employees integrate responsible waste sorting into their daily routines. The stations themselves are made from recycled plastic materials, demonstrating how post-consumer waste can be repurposed into practical solutions that support better waste management.
The launch was accompanied by educational sessions highlighting the importance of waste segregation at the source and the challenges associated with waste management. Employees were encouraged to recognize that proper waste segregation increases the opportunity for waste to be recycled, repurposed, or managed according to its characteristics, ultimately reducing the amount of waste sent to final disposal sites.
As part of the Waste to Wonder Series, B. Braun Indonesia also collaborated with Liberty Society, a social enterprise focused on women's empowerment. The partnership showcased how unused promotional materials and paper waste can be transformed into new products such as notebooks while creating sustainable income opportunities for women involved in the production process. Participants also joined a hands-on workshop on converting used cooking oil into aromatic candles, providing practical insight into how everyday waste can be transformed into products with renewed value and purpose.
Through Waste to Wonder and the B. Braun Waste Segregation Initiative, B. Braun Indonesia aims to encourage positive behavioral change through simple everyday actions. By combining education, supporting infrastructure, and partnerships that create environmental and social value, the company hopes to foster a culture of responsible waste management while inspiring broader communities to recognize waste not merely as a disposal challenge, but as a resource that can generate meaningful impact when managed properly.
