As part of its ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility, B. Braun Indonesia held an Upcycling Workshop at its Head Office in Jakarta on July 3, 2025. This initiative was carried out in collaboration with DemiBumi, an organization focused on environmental education and sustainable living. The workshop was part of the “Waste to Wonder” campaign, which aims to raise awareness about the potential value of everyday waste, both at home and in the workplace.
The session featured Jessica Halim, Co-Founder of DemiBumi, as the main speaker and instructor. Participants were guided through hands-on demonstrations on how to make beeswax wraps as an alternative to single-use plastic, as well as natural soap that is safe for the environment. The practical approach allowed employees to gain not only new knowledge but also useful skills they could apply in their daily lives.
With the theme “Less Household Waste with Family,” the workshop encouraged participants to better understand different types of household waste, how to sort and break them down, and the importance of responsible waste management. A key focus was on introducing the concept of upcycling, which transforms waste into new, functional products with higher value. Unlike recycling, which processes materials back into raw form, upcycling retains the original structure of materials and extends their lifecycle.
Antonia Enny Indrayanti, HR & Corporate Communication Director of B. Braun Indonesia, emphasized the importance of this initiative in engaging employees through meaningful and enjoyable learning experiences. “This activity is a great way to educate our employees in an attractive and interactive manner. The upcycling kits distributed to participants are also meant to encourage them to continue these practices at home with their families,” she said.
Sustainability is embedded in the DNA of B. Braun globally. The company believes that protecting the planet is a shared responsibility, and every decision is made with future generations in mind. Initiatives like “Waste to Wonder” reflect B. Braun’s commitment to creating solutions that benefit not only patients and healthcare professionals but also the environment.
With a spirit of collaboration and education, B. Braun Indonesia will continue to introduce programs that support sustainable lifestyles. This workshop marks not the end, but the beginning of a long-term journey toward a greener workplace and a more environmentally conscious society.
