Nepal earthquake disaster relief

The devastating 7.9 magnitude earthquake that hit Nepal on 25 April 2015 caused a death toll of more than 5,000, with tragedy beyond words affecting families and massive damages to homes, buildings, roads and other infrastructure. More than 3.5 million people are estimated to be in need of various types of assistance. As part of B. Braun’s disaster relief efforts, a donation drive was initiated by BMI Penang and a total of MYR18,722.85 (USD4,927) was collected. This amount was matched and rounded by the BMI Management Board to MYR40,000.00 (USD10,526). From the Asia Pacific region, a total of USD5,709.89 was collected from B. Braun subsidiaries. Together as a whole, B. Braun Asia Pacific has made a cash donation of USD16,315.63 to the Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS).

In addition to the cash donation, we have also donated medical supplies consisting of IV catheters, Plasma Volume Replacement, Large Volume Parenteral, Central Venous Catheters, Infusion sets and other devices worth MYR249,000.00 (USD65,526).

B. Braun Melsungen collected €35,000 and the amount was matched by the BBMA Board to €70,000.
