B. Braun produces hand rub in Sidoarjo, Indonesia, through a joint venture with PT Malidas Sterilindo. The manufacturing facility is specifically appointed to produce a 500 ml hand rub called SoftaRub, a B. Braun hand rub product dedicated to the Indonesian market and has been certified EN 1500. With this standard, SoftaRub is very effective and safe for daily hand hygiene practices used by health workers, and public.

B. Braun Indonesia is the only country, outside of B. Braun Switzerland as the Center of Excellence of Infection Prevention, which has a license to produce local hand rub. The localization project, which was launched in early 2022, is a joint effort by B. Braun to answer Indonesia's resource empowerment needs; both facilities and infrastructure, as well as the social economy of the community. Finally, the first 500 ml hand rub "made in Indonesia with German quality", was successfully produced, shipped, and marketed throughout Indonesia since last September 2022.

The practice of hand hygiene is able to control infections in health facilities and the community itself. Through an international webinar, a collaboration between B. Braun Indonesia and the Indonesian National Nurse Association ("HIPPII") at the end of last September, Dr. Ns. Elis Puji Utami, S. Kep., MPH., FISQua, as chairman of HIPPII, explained how Improving Hospital External Quality in the Hand Hygiene Program can help control infection in health facilities.

"External quality is used to assess the quality of services in hospitals. The description of the quality of hospital services can be seen from whether there is the monitoring of the implementation of hand hygiene compliance. For this reason, the role of hospital leadership is crucial to monitor and ensure that hand hygiene practices in the hospital environment are carried out properly and sustainably," She added.

President Director of B. Braun Indonesia, Rainer Ruppel said, "For almost 40 years, B. Braun has lived in Indonesia implementing the vision to protect and improve the health of people around the world. Today, we continue our commitment to this nation by starting local production of our hand rub in Sidoarjo, Central Java. We strive to provide the best products and services that are affordable, while still focusing on process optimization, security, partnerships, and progress."

B. Braun's hand rub which is dedicated to the Indonesian market and has been certified EN 1500, SoftaRub, is very effective and safe for daily hand hygiene practices by health workers and the public.
