Toys for Joy: B. Braun Indonesia Shares Boxes of Happiness to Children with Cancer at YKAKI

21 March 2023 – In commemoration of International Childhood Cancer Day, colleagues at B. Braun Indonesia voluntarily took the initiative to collect their children's preloved children's toys and books to be donated to children with cancer under the care of the Indonesian Cancer Children's Foundation (“YKAKI”).

Titled Toys for Joy, B. Braun Indonesia colleagues collected donations in container boxes that had been distributed at several locations. In addition to the donation box, there are roll up banners and cue cards containing educational infographics on how to recognize common symptoms of cancer in children. The collection of donations lasts from 6 s.d. March 10, 2023 at the Head Office, Jakarta, and Plant B. Braun, Cikampek. More than 165 children's toys and books have been collected to be donated.

Apart from raising donations, this activity aims to increase the awareness of parents and prospective parents so they can recognize the symptoms of cancer in children, because these symptoms are very similar to other diseases. As well as to provide support and empathy for children with cancer to be more enthusiastic about undergoing the therapy process. This donation is also a form of sustainability step to reduce the waste of children's toys and books that can have an impact on the environment.

Represented by Enny Indrayanti, HR & Corporate Communications B. Braun Indonesia, the donation was handed over directly to the founder of YKAKI, Ira Soelistyo on 20 March 2023 at YKAKI Head Office, Jakarta. YKAKI management appreciates the good intentions of B. Braun Indonesia's colleagues and hopes to collaborate on an ongoing basis to expand public awareness regarding cancer in children.

“We feel grateful for the care and empathy shown from B. Braun. We hope that many young families there will also know more about what cancer is in children and how to recognize it. Because basically cancer in children can be cured, especially if it is detected early,” said Ira.

As a globally managed family own company, B. Braun is committed to contributing to protecting and improving the lives of children around the world. With this activity, it is hoped that it can foster a sense of empathy for children with cancer and educate B. Braun families throughout Indonesia to recognize the symptoms of cancer in children so that they are detected early, so that children as the next generation can get a better quality of life.
